When I'm not spending time in my shop, skiing Mt. Bachelor or playing one of our 25 great golf courses here in Bend, I love to cook. Necessity is the mother of all inventions. I needed some specialty work board for my kitchen that I couldn't find in any of the specialty kitchen shops in Bend. So I went down to my shop, used some of my maple and American black walnut and created these specialty boards I use in my kitchen all the time. I've designed all my specialty kitchen boards to be multi-functional. All my specialty boards are finished with food safe mineral oil and wax that is available in any kitchen specialty shop.
Hand Crafted Pasta Boards
Several of my neighbors in Bend love to make homemade pasta. I was lucky enough to attend a pasta making class where each couple made their own pasta. I couldn't help but notice the pasta making board was less than ideal. They were light, so they moved around on the counter and they were too small. I went back in my shop and created the perfect pasta board that anyone would be pleased to have on permanent display in their high-end kitchen.
The board pictured above is trimmed in American black walnut as well as the two inch cleat that hooks over the front of the counter top to keep it in place. The main work surface is maple chosen for its hardness and closed pores that makes the surface easier to clean and maintain. Three types of maple are available for your selection (plan - as pictured above, birdseye and curly maple). The board shown above is 30 inches wide by 24 inches deep which fits a standard counter top. Your board can be custom made to your specifications and trimmed in any wood you desire to match your kitchen decor. The top surface of this board is used to roll out pasta or any other pastry item. When flipped over, with the cleat facing away from you (as a backstop), this becomes a great chopping board you'll use often. The roller (shown above) is a 3 inch solid maple roller.

Bread Boards
These multi-functional cutting boards are a great enhancement and handy work surface in any kitchen. These boads have the following functions: 1) Cutting board, 2) A prep center and 3) a serving tray.
The two light colored boards are made from birdseye maple, the perfect surface to use as a cutting board. The middle board is made from American black walnut. These boards are so spectacular, you'll want to use them as serving boards. You won't want to move the bread or cheese to another serving piece. The boards shown here can be purchased seperately or as a set - making it the perfect gift. The sizes shown are (W 12" x L 18"), (W 8" x L 10"), (W 6" x L 8"). Each board is .75 inch thick. When you serve the cheese and bread on the big board to your guests, it will immediately become the topic of conversation.

Hello, Tony, My parents had a pine pasta board, 36" x 26", that was in service for over 70 years. Due to a move and poor long-term storage, the board can't be used for rolling pasta any more. Would you consider making a board of these dimensions out of pine or other light-weight wood suitable for a food surface? (Heavier woods make for a board too weighty to move from counter top to storage with ease.) If this is something you would consider doing, kindly give me an estimate of total cost, including shipping. Thank you. Luisa
